Die Tauplitz lies in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut region and is the biggest individual ski area in Styria. 43 piste kilometers across three different mountains – the Mitterstein, Lawinenstein and Schneiderkogel – as well as the Tauplitzalm, which serves as a hub for them all. The broad, extensive runs offer something certain to appeal to each and every skier: long hills with sporting challenges, as well as pleasantly gentle pistes for laid-back skiers and families.
Premium pistes, lots of snow and sun, panoramic views
Our premium pistes lie mostly above the tree line and, if you have a little bit of luck with the weather, you will find yourself skiing from morning to evening in brilliant sunshine. We also have lots of snow – Die Tauplitz is actually one of the snowiest areas in the Alps. Modern snowmaking equipment does its part to ensure that our winter season is very long.
Many lines, finest powder, variety-packed terrain
Die Tauplitz offers some of the best freeride terrain in Styria – with boundless variety, yet easy to navigate. On our three ski mountains, you will find many lines, some very apparent and others hidden away, steep slopes and, as often as not, the finest powder imaginable – Die Tauplitz is the very definition of a snow trap! Sunny and with amazing 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountains: Here with us, you get a true sense of what freedom really means!
Winter hiking, car-free area, spectacular nature
The Tauplitzalm is car-free in winter and, from the moment you get here, you will sense immediately: Up here, the clocks tick a little differently – more attentively, to the rhythm of nature itself. On the clearly marked and perfectly maintained winter hiking paths, if the weather cooperates you will be able to explore in brilliant sunshine and be treated to impressive panoramic views of hundreds of mountain peaks. One day spent on Die Tauplitz is as reenergizing as an extended weekend elsewhere.

Die Tauplitz lies in the heart of Austria and the drive here along a broad main road is pleasant, even if it’s snowing. Rail connections are also available. You can look forward to delicious meals, a convivial atmosphere and an excellent night’s sleep once you get here. Peaceful as well as lively, with all the infrastructure you could wish for – surrounding Die Tauplitz, you will discover a wide selection of lodging and dining establishments as well as 18 ski huts. Incidentally: Many businesses are family-run and you will get to know the owners personally.
