Unique mountain scenery, 300 m long, for experienced climbers
.
This tour greets you with the full variety of the Tauplitz: In order to reach the start of this fixed-cable climb at 1770 m, you will first hike across flower-strewn alpine meadows alongside silent lakes – the Tauplitz is actually the biggest lake plateau in Central Europe. But then the scenery changes: On the 300 m-long via ferrata itself, you will be accompanied by imposing panoramic views of the rugged limestone walls of the Totes Gebirge, the mighty Grimming and the famous Dachstein massif. And when you finally reach the summit of the 1981 m-tall Traweng, you will be able to take in the magical views – the kind of natural spectacle only experienced rarely in life!
If you decide to tackle the “Gamsblick” via ferrata, you absolutely need professional climbing equipment – a full set of via ferrata gear, safety harness, helmet and sturdy mountaineering shoes. Only climb in good weather: Things can turn dangerous really fast in the rain, plus climbing in wet terrain isn’t much fun anyway. If something does happen, call 112 (Euro emergency number) or 140 (mountain rescue). Caution is the most important watchword when you are out and about in nature. Take good care of yourself!
Since you are already on the Tauplitz, why not go ahead and spend the night: For example, there are plenty of lodging opportunities in Tauplitzalm village. There, you will be served an irresistible selection of hearty dishes, while the sense of high-spirited companionship is something you won’t soon forget.
