Tauplitzalm Tractor-Train

TRUNDLE COMFORTABLY ACROSS ALPINE PASTURES, GAZING OUT AT THE BREATHTAKING PANORAMAS

As you sit comfortably aboard the Tauplitzalm tractor-train, flower-strewn meadows and tranquil mountain lakes will slowly glide past you. And by the time you reach the Steirersee-Bankerl, a popular lookout point affording astonishing panoramic views, a sense of absolute freedom and harmony will fill your soul. A feeling that will stay with you long after you have returned to your original starting point.

With its six lakes, the Tauplitzalm is the biggest lake plateau in Central Europe – and simultaneously a gigantic alpine garden. In springtime and summer, the meadows are transformed into a sea of alpine flowers, where purple rhododendron, velvety blue gentian, hellebore and Carthusian pink bloom by the millions. In autumn, on the other hand, countless larch trees are adorned in shimmering gold. As you are chauffeured through this unique alpine landscape on the tractor-train, you will be overcome by a sense of peace and pure happiness.

Train Excursion, Steirersee-Bankerl, Magnificent Scenery

The tractor-train trundles along between Tauplitzalm Alpenstrasse and the Steirersee-Bankerl: The ride out and back is roughly 6 km, with lots to discover along the way: After the sparse forests of larch trees, your journey takes you above Großsee and past the small mountain church of the Tauplitzalm. If you have time later, we suggest paying it a visit: With its colorful stained-glass windows, it is an ideal place for quiet reflection. But for now, and constantly accompanied by views of the Tauplitzsee, the tractor-train continues on its journey to the Steirersee-Bankerl. This is a popular lookout point that affords a splendid panoramic view of the legendary Sturzhahn. Mountaineering icon Heinrich Harrer was the first to climb it. Once all passengers have re-boarded the train, you will unhurriedly begin the trip back: across the sunny high plateau to the idyllic mountain village and your original starting point.

The Tractor train runs from middle of June till end of September every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 am from the car-park Tauplitzalm. Passengers are welcome to get on and off the tractor-train at the mountain terminal of the quad chairlift as well. For further information please call:
