Tauplitz lies in the Styrian region of Ausseerland - Salzkammergut, renowned as a place of extraordinary natural power: flower-strewn meadows, crystal-clear lakes, abundant sunshine and 360° panoramic views extending out across hundreds of peaks – amid this majestic natural spectacle, you are able to indulge your love of hiking to your heart’s content

The biggest community in our holiday region is Bad Mitterndorf, with a lively town center that has evolved naturally over time. Stretching out on all sides is an open, sunny valley, where we also discover charming Tauplitz village – site of the quad chairlift which serves as a gateway to our alpine hiking areas. High above at 1650 m is the Tauplitzalm, home to six lakes and actually the biggest lake plateau in Central Europe. This small village is a exudes amazing energy, serving as the ideal base from which to explore the hiking paths and mountain trails of the Tauplitz. The moment you arrive in our holiday region, you will immediately sense: This is a place where you will be able to enjoy life to the full.  

Jaw-dropping natural spectacle, hundreds of peaks, numerous lakes

Ausseerland - Salzkammergut is an astonishingly spectacular region surrounded by hundreds of Alpine peaks: Standing right in front of you is the mighty Grimming, and farther back the Dachstein – the biggest mountain in Styria with its glaciated massif. In between, you will see the mountains which flank Tauplitz itself: the legendary Sturzhahn, the Traweng, Rosskogel and Almkogel, the Kleines and Grosses Tragl as well as the Lawinenstein, which, with its flat summit plateau, stands like a balcony above Ausseerland - Salzkammergut and marks the center of the region. You will find many lakes here as well: On the Tauplitz alone, six different lakes lie next to the hiking and mountaineering routes, beckoning intrepid summer explorers to take a refreshing dip sure to invigorate body, mind and soul.

When you go hiking in the clean air, you quickly work up an appetite and need something good on your stomach: Luckily, our hosts know exactly what hits the spot for all of you mountaineering heroes and nature lovers. Alongside our mountain trails and hiking paths, you will encounter numerous huts serving fragrant coffee, homemade desserts, and an array of delicious dishes. The atmosphere is always cheerful and convivial – where heartfelt Styrian hospitality is lived and breathed. Many eateries in Ausseerland - Salzkammergut are still family-run and you will likely have an opportunity to get to know the owners in person.

The commercial businesses located in Bad Mitterndorf have evolved naturally over time and the community as a whole is teeming with life – if you are looking for all the creature comforts, you will definitely feel right at home here.

A charming village that lies right next to the valley station of the quad chairlift serving our alpine hiking areas: Here, life is somewhat quieter than in Bad Mitterndorf and the infrastructure is a little less extensive, though you will still find everything you need for a great hiking vacation: hotels and guesthouses, inns, restaurants, a grocery store, a village bakery and even a dance bar – the people here are open, friendly and never say no to a good party.

The Tauplitzalm at 1650 m is home to six lakes and is the highest lake plateau in Central Europe. The small village itself is a small, self-contained world with an energy all its own – the clocks up here tick at a different pace – more attentively, in sync with the rhythms of nature itself. Here, anyone who prefers a more laid-back lifestyle is certain to feel right at home. Around 1000 guest beds ensure that Tauplitz is always lively, but never overcrowded.
