Along our hiking trails and footpaths, mountain tours and six lakes, numerous huts on the Tauplitzalm plateau invite passers-by to take a break for a delicious bite to eat: whether a fortifying snack of country produce, hearty Steirerkas dumplings or a flavorful cheese-dumpling soup – the power of those healthy ingredients flows straight from your stomach to your legs. Or you might prefer to add a little extra sweetness to your life with a mug of fragrant coffee, exquisite farmhouse doughnuts or a homemade apple strudel.

Hospitality, family businesses, high-spirited celebrations

Many of the culinary businesses in Bad Mitterndorf, Tauplitz, on the Tauplitzalm as well as along the hiking and mountaineering tours, are family-run. Whether an inn, restaurant or rustic mountain hut: As often as not, you will get to know the owners personally. In many cases, you will find them busy in the kitchen cooking up your food, while others will give you a friendly greeting from behind the bar.
