Gigantic area, fresh powder and lots of sun
.
The area which surrounds Die Tauplitz is essentially an enormous ski playground for freeriders: On the Mitterstein, Lawinenstein and Schneiderkogel, on the Grosser and Kleiner Süd, on the Ramsanger-Hang and the Tauplitzalm, where everything connects together, you will find lines that are obvious and hidden – with a broad spectrum of length and steepness. This vast natural world is an ideal place for fun in the snow – totally laid-back on the one hand, fully focused on the other. As a freerider here with us, you truly sense the full meaning of freedom.
The Tauplitz is one of the snowiest areas in the Alps. Records indicate snow depths as much as 4 meters – with fresh powder, magical firn and finest pillows for your creative lines. Rocky overhangs give you the opportunity for long jumps, steep mountainsides deliver nerve-tingling excitement, while lots of areas close to Die Tauplitz are still completely unexplored. The terrain on several mountains is impossible to beat when it comes to variety – which explains our reputation as one of the best freeride areas in Styria.
The freeride terrain on Die Tauplitz is for the most part above the tree line or in sparse coniferous forests. Which means, if the weather cooperates, you can enjoy your lines at any time of day in radiant sunshine with amazing 360° panoramic views of hundreds of Alpine peaks all around. If you pause every now and then to take a deep breath, you will be able to sense the pure power of nature.
Despite its size, you’ll have no problems navigating the Die Tauplitz freeride area, making it easy to find your way back to the lifts. Before setting out, be sure to check the weather forecast and avalanche conditions as well as your proposed route. Never ride alone and only with the correct gear – avalanche transponder, avalanche rucksack with shovel, probe, first-aid kit as well as a mobile phone.
