Bad Mitterndorf in Ausseerland - Salzkammergut

A UNIQUE PLACE OF POWER

Die Tauplitz lies in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut region, a place of astonishing power: abundant sunshine and snow, hundreds of mountains, impressive panoramic views and authentic vibrancy – a natural spectacle you simply have to be a part of.

The biggest town close to Die Tauplitz is Bad Mitterndorf, where you will find everything you need for a good lifestyle. Extending out in all directions is an open, sunny valley, also where Tauplitz village lies – a charming community by the valley lift station for our ski area. Higher up in the mountains, the Tauplitzalm at 1650 m above sea level serves as the hub for all three ski mountains of Die Tauplitz. This small alpine village is car-free in winter and radiates an energy all its own. The moment you arrive up there, you immediately sense that the clocks here tick a little differently – more attentively, in rhythm with nature itself.

Hundreds of peaks, an amazing natural spectacle, healing thermal water

Ausseerland-Salzkammergut is a region surrounded by hundreds of alpine summits: At the forefront stands the mighty Grimming, below which the Bad Mitterndorf valley extends. Peeking out in the background is the Dachstein, Styria’s tallest mountain. Between them lie the three mountains of Die Tauplitz itself: the Lawinenstein, the Schneiderkogel and the Mitterstein. We can justifiably claim that our region teems with riches. Riches that also include water: Our valley is home to a subterranean lake that supplies our drinking water, while two spa resorts do their part to ensure your holidays will be incredibly rejuvenating from every perspective.

Panoramic views, abundant snow and sunshine, long winters

Die Tauplitz is one of the snowiest areas in the Alps and our winter season is long – generally from November until after Easter. Our pistes and hiking paths are mostly above the tree line, offering impressive panoramic views along with lots of sunshine. A night-sledding run in Tauplitz village promises exhilarating enjoyment, whereas, if you prefer to take things a little easier during your holidays, we recommend a cross-country ski tour along our award-winning trails or a sleigh ride through the snowy Ausseerland – Salzkammergut countryside.

Dining on the mountain and in the valley, good hospitality, friendly people

Many lodging and dining establishments in Ausseerland - Salzkammergut are family-run and you will get to know the owners personally. Our eateries know what tastes good in winter, while many serve their delicious dishes accompanied by beautiful scenery as well. Next to the pistes of Die Tauplitz and along the winter hiking paths, you will discover refreshment opportunities at 18 different ski huts and restaurants

Bad Mitterndorf

Bad Mitterndorf

The center of the region surrounding Die Tauplitz offers everything you need for a beautiful winter holiday: cafés, bars and restaurants, stores for groceries, sporting goods, books and clothing, as well as an extraordinary shop for folk fashions. Bad Mitterndorf is a very vibrant community that has grown naturally throughout the years – a place where everybody feels at home, not least because of the excellent infrastructure. Tip: There’s nothing more beautiful than a stroll through Bad Mitterndorf when it’s snowing.

Tauplitz village

Tauplitz Village

A charming village that lies right next to the valley station of the quad chairlift, your gateway to our ski area. Things here are more peaceful than in Bad Mitterndorf and the infrastructure is smaller. Nonetheless, you will find everything you need for a beautiful winter holiday: hotels and guesthouses, inns, restaurants, a shop for groceries, a village bakery and a dance paradise – the people here are sociable and love to celebrate. And since we are talking of night owls: the night-sledding run in Tauplitz village promises an exhilarating good time as well

Tauplitzalm

Tauplitzalm

Tauplitzalm village is car-free in winter and the moment you arrive, you immediately sense that the clocks here tick a little differently – more attentively, in rhythm with nature itself. Often blanketed deep in snow, this alpine village at 1650 m above sea level is a small mountain world with an authentic energy all its own. Here, everybody feels right at home high above the outside world – in the middle of nature and the ski area. Around 1000 guest beds ensure that Die Tauplitz is always lively, though never overcrowded.
